Views from TeamPHP

We conducted two workshops in barcamp, which was held at thoughtworks officein yerwada, pune.

Topics for workshop that we conducted were

• Joomla
• Codeignitor

Joomla workshop was conducted by chetan while codeignitor workshop was conducted by Vinod and Amit.

Vinod talked about the frameworks as whole and why we should work with codeignitor while amit demonstrated the use of the framework and how everything talked by vinod is implemented by codeignitor.

Chetan talked about the php and cms in general and went on to demonstrate how joomla can easily be most user-friendly cms around and also developer friendly.

We have decided to compete within ourselves to prove who’s the BEST. For this we have formed FOUR Teams.

1. Myrmidones : Their tagline is Be Passionate. In Homer’s Iliad, the Myrmidons are the soldiers commanded by Achilles. If you want to know more, watch Troy. It is consist of

   2. Sulakshana
2. Slytherins: Their tagline is follow Dreams. In Harry Potter, Slytherin house values ambition, cunning and resourcefulness. It is consist of
   1. Bhagyashree, She is leading this group.
   2. Narendra
3. Stalwarts : Their tagline is still to be decided, but according to me “naam hi kafi hai“, i don’t think they need any taglines. According to dicionary.com stalwart(noun) means firm, steadfast, or uncompromising person. It is consist of
   1. Rinkal, She is leading this group.
   2. Vinod

4. Mavericks : Our tagline is “have fun”.It is the callsign of Lt. Pete Mitchell (played by Tom Cruise) in the film Top Gun. it is a term suggesting independence of thought or action. It is biggest team of four, consisting of
   1. Amit, i am leading this bunch.
   2. Gopi
   3. Rinki

As you can see we(mavericks) have largest team size you can guess as our chances of wining is greater then anyother teams.

Now you might be wondering on what basis we will be competing, well it is based on

1. Timely completion of task assinged to each team
2. New skills that they aquare and share with team
3. Coding standard that teams follow, which will be judged on the basis of coding manual that TeamPHP has.
4. What client think about about their teams work.

It will be a weekly compition.

And the prizes for winners are….. well i need your suggestions as what it should be.

Once upon a time…….

i guess this is how most of the childhood stories started. Well one day every one at office got chance to eat gola, and this is how Team PHP responded to the event.
